4 Best Free People Workout Tops (You Won’t Regret Buying)

Looking for the best Free People workout tops? These are (in my opinion) the 4 best Free People Movement tops – reviewed.

Best Free People Workout Tops

Free People workout tops are some of my favorite tops I have ever worked out in. The prices (depending on which top you want) are pretty affordable and the quality is amazing for the price. If you are looking for comfortable, flattering and affordable workout tops keep reading! The ones featured in this post are some of my absolute favorites.

I am obsessed with the Free People Happiness Runs Crop Top. I have this top in 3 colors, Heather Gray, Vintage Dark Sandalwood, Brushed Taupe. (See photo below for exact colors)

I love that I can wear this top as a bra replacement and it keeps everything in place. The fabric is very soft, just the right thickness, fitted but flattering and most importantly slouch free.

I love that there are SO many color options. There are 38 colors to choose from and good luck choosing one because it’s impossible not to want them all.

Note – I preferred the solid colors over the vintage colors. But they are all amazing.

Warning – The white one is see through. I wanted to keep the white color so badly but you could see my nipples through the fabric. If that doesn’t bother you great! But just something to be aware of.

Free People Size Guide: Happiness Runs Crop Top

I ordered an XS/S for these and they fit perfectly. (I normally wear a medium in sports bras and a small in tops) I could not have gone any bigger. If I went with the bigger size my boob would have popped out the side.

Fits tight but comfortable.

Best For:

This top is perfect for yoga, walking, spinning, or any other low impact exercise. I wear mine running but some might find it does not offer enough support for that. If that’s the case you could comfortably wear a sports bra under it.

This top is so cute you could also wear it out with friends, pair it with some high rise jeans, or wear it to the pool. It is so versatile.

Some days I find myself wearing it as a normal bra. It’s just so comfortable it’s hard not to.

Free People Tighten Up Tank

The Free People Tighten Up Tank is absolutely perfect. You don’t have to wear a bra with it and it hugs you in all the right places. The style is meant to be compressive for support and fits tight to the body.

This tank top has gone viral on instagram and for good reason. Popular instagrammers like Tezza rave about it.

Free People Size Guide: Tighten Up Tank

I originally ordered an XS/S because that is the size I wear in all other Free People Movement tops. But ultimately I found it to be a little too restricting. I also have bloating issues and when I wore the XS/S bloated the bottom rolled up in the worst way! Because of this I decided to size up and the M/L fits perfectly!

If you too have experienced bloating or swelling check out my review of the best leggings for belly bloat. (The struggle is real!)

Best For:

This is a great tank to wear if you are layering an outfit, lounging around the house, yoga, spinning, walking, any low impact activities. You can layer it under a sports bra if you want to wear it for high impact workouts.

Tighten Up Tank w/ Strappy Back

Fit – I found that the strappy back version has a bigger fit than the straight back. For reference, I wear an XS/S in the Tighten Up Tank w/ Strappy Back and a M/L in the Tighten Up Tank (back is straight across).

Watch Out Tank

This is a great workout top. The material is super soft and it can be worn without a bra as long as you’re not running in it. If you want to run in it it just throw on a sports bra underneath. This sports bra looks amazing underneath!

Free People’s Watch Out Tank is $10 more than the others mentioned in this post but it is well worth it. The fabric feels so high quality and I have worn and washed mine many times and it still looks brand new! It holds up well.

Fit: Free People Watch Out Tank

I ordered an XS/S and it fit perfectly. They are tight, but in a flattering way that will hold you in while you are working out. I don’t want my boobs popping out mid workout. It is worth noting that some of the customer reviews (read the reviews here) complained that the top was too tight and they had to size up. I am a C cup and was fine to order my normal size. If you have bigger boobs you might want to consider sizing up.

I have the Army and Delilah Red. I want more colors! (See photo below for colors)

Best for:

The Watch Out Tank is best for low impact exercise, including weight lifting, spinning, walking, yoga. It would also be perfect for lounging and layering.

Note – Some of the reviews with big boobs said their boobs pop out if they are doing yoga. I do not have this problem at all but then again I am a C cup. So take that for what it’s worth.

Care Instructions for the Free People Movement Tops

Machine wash cold. I air dry mine but there are no further instructions on the label. I am so relieved that these tank tops are machine washable. Anyone else just not interested in activewear you have to hand wash? No thank you.

Where to Buy:

The best place to buy these is the free people website. The shipping is free (for US) and the returns are free. They also run deals with free express shipping frequently.

Free People Sales or Promo Codes:

Unfortunately, Free People does not have sales very often. Since I have been shopping at Free People I have only seen them hold 1 sale in November. It was a flash sale, 1 day only and you have to spend a certain amount of money to qualify for the sale. For those curious it was 20% if you spent $200 and 25% if you spend $250.
