Visiting Papakolea Beach (Green Sand Beach) was definitely a highlight of our trip to Hawaii. It was basically my first time swimming in the ocean in seven years (I don’t count a hot tub)! It felt so good! Read more of my battle with chronic illness here.

The Big Island in Hawaii offers a lot other than volcanoes and lava. Though, volcanoes and lava are still great reasons to go.

There was no active lava while we were there, so we had the opportunity to explore other things about the island.

Big Island Beaches

One of the things was visiting the most incredible Big Island Beaches. In three days we were able to visit two black sand beaches, one green sand beach, and a white sand beach! It was incredible to see different types of beaches in such a short amount of time.
