When most people think France, they immediately think Paris, and often times it is unfortunately the only city they visit.  Here are 8 of the most charming towns in France, that are NOT Paris.

I have nothing against Paris, as it is still definitely a must see, but I have found that the true beauty and culture of a country can sometimes be found even stronger outside of the big cities (France especially). Next time you are looking to take a French vacation, I recommend renting a car and canvasing the countryside.

  1. Love that you added the maps for each city–that was so helpful! We’re making a trip to France next spring, and I was hoping some of these beautiful villages would be in areas we’ll be visiting (and some are!)

  2. Oh, these towns are so beautiful! I think Annecy and Colmar are the most well-known of them all. And I do agree that the real beauty often lies outside big cities, so it is important, as you say, to canvas the countryside if you want to experience the whole spirit of the country!
